Toy Day is the Christmas version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
On this special day, Jingle the reindeer will visit your island and recruit you to bring holiday cheer to the island. You will be able to give gifts to your villagers and carry out gift exchanges with them for your own gifts.
However, you must first make festive wrapping paper so you can start earning Toy Day rewards, including Jingle’s photo.

How to find Jingle in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
To participate in the New Horizons Toy Day festivities, you must find Jingle the reindeer.
Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to locate: just head to Residential Services and it’ll be wandering nearby. It may not be directly outside of Residential Services, but it will never go too far.
DIY Festive Wrapping Paper Recipe in Animal Crossing: New Horizons Explained
After speaking with Jingle in New Horizons, she will give you the first task of Toy Day: craft three pieces of festive wrapping paper.
To make the festive wrapping paper, you need to collect some decorations, and since you need three pieces of wrapping, you need three red, blue, and gold decorations.
Ornaments can be found by shaking lights-covered trees, so find the nearest one and start shaking. Trees can provide multiple decorations, so feel free to shake the same tree over and over again if you wish. But don’t forget the wasps!
Once you have enough decorations, craft the three pieces of festive wrapping paper and return to Jingle. In gratitude for her hard work, she will give him a set of Toy Day stockings.
Giving gifts to villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons explained
Jingle will then ask you to deliver a gift to each villager on your island in New Horizons; some of these villagers will wander around your island, while others will be at home. However, you cannot deliver a gift if the villager is asleep.
To do this Jingle will give you a magic bag, but will warn you that the magic will wear off at 5am, which is when he will leave the island. If you want to take a break from the current delivery, she talk to Jingle and tell her.
Now all you have to do is hunt down each villager and give them a gift! Some villagers may even give you a gift so you don’t feel left out. These gifts will all be toys, and if you don’t like them, you may be able to use them later.
Depending on when you like to play New Horizons, you may want to set an ordinance in Residential Services to ensure that all villagers are awake; the Early Bird Ordinance will cause villagers to wake up earlier, while the Night Owl Ordinance will cause them to stay awake longer at night. Each ordinance will cost you 20,000 Bells (apparently to cover the paperwork).
After you have delivered all the gifts, find Jingle again and he will take the magic bag from you. He will then give you a homemade gift pile recipe and a toy day sleigh.
Exchanging gifts with villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Every New Horizons villager will let you exchange gifts with them on Toy Day.
You can give a villager whatever you want for Toy Day, but you’ll only receive toys in return, so don’t expect anything too special. These toys will be of various styles, so you may find one you haven’t seen before.
However, you must first make sure that all the gifts you want to give are wrapped, because it is Toy Day and the villagers will not accept unwrapped gifts. You can bring wrapping paper from the cabinet at Nook’s Cranny and a villager can give you some for free if you attempt a gift exchange without having any wrapped gifts in your inventory.
Once your gifts are wrapped, find all the villagers on your island and give them their gifts in exchange for your toy collection. Remember: you can only do one gift exchange per village.
How to get the Jingle photo in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
If you want Jingle’s photo in New Horizons, you need to hang the Toy Day stockings in your house on Toy Day itself.
It was quite difficult to find a place.
The next day, December 25, interact with the stockings to receive Jingle’s photo. If you received a photo from Jingle last year, you can receive another this year.
It is possible to receive the portrait until January 1st, but we highly recommend receiving it on December 25th to ensure you have the portrait for your collection.
Toys and festive clothing in Animal Crossing; New Horizons
In the lead-up to Toy Day in New Horizons, Nook’s Cranny will be selling one of eight different toys every day: Dinosaur Toy, Dollhouse, Kids Tent, Mini Circuit, Pop-Up Book, Puppy Plush, RC Helicopter and tin robot. The specific toy on sale will change each day, so you’ll have more than enough time to pick them up.
While you can’t customize the toys yourself, villagers will give you different styles of toys through the Toy Day gift exchange and Cyrus can customize them if you unlocked him on Harv’s Island.
Able Sisters will also be selling festive clothing throughout December, including everything you need for a Santa suit.
The Animal Crossing 2.0 and Happy Home Paradise update is here! We can help you with the new additions, including where to find Brewster, Gyroids, new villagers, ordinances, new fences, storage shed, new hairstyles, Froggy Chair, group stretches, and Kapp’n boat tours. Cooking can now be unlocked, so you need to know how to make flour and sugar, as well as how to grow carrots, potatoes and tomatoes. In the meantime, if you’re new to Animal Crossing, our New Horizons tips can help you with the basics. From the beginning, there are fish and insects to catch, flowers and fruits to grow. A long-term goal is to increase your Happy Home Academy score. Finally, you need tools like the new ladder and pole to fully explore.
Date and time of Toy Day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Toy Day in New Horizons occurs on the same day as Christmas Eve, which means it will always be December 24.
In 2021, Toy Day will take place on Friday, December 24 and will last all day. This means that Toy Day begins and ends at the island’s daily reset time.
During this time you will be able to chat with Jingle and complete his activities to earn Toy Day rewards.
Have a Merry Christmas!
