Zelda: Link’s Awakening Chamber Dungeons: How to unlock, save and share levels, plus amiibo unlocks explained

Zelda: Link’s Awakening Chamber Dungeons is a new mode introduced in the new Switch version of the classic Game Boy adventure.

Chamber Dungeons is, in short, a dungeon editor that allows you to create your own gauntlet by grouping rooms and bosses found in the dungeons you complete throughout the game.

Not only that, there are several unlockable Link’s Awakening amiibo for additional rooms, which you can also use to share your creations.

How to Unlock Chamber Dungeons in Zelda: Link’s Awakening

You can find Chamber Dungeons in Tal Tal Heights once you’ve cleared the second dungeon, Bottle Grotto.

After collecting the Roc Feather item from the first dungeon, Tail Cave, you have the ability to jump over pits in the ground, allowing you to reach Tal Tal Heights, just northeast of the Mysterious Forest.

From here, head east of the cave where you rescued BowWow to find Gravedigger Dampe.

He will invite you to this hut, which is just to the right, and introduce you to the chamber dungeons. As you complete dungeons, you will be presented with new challenges (chamber dungeons that must adhere to certain rules he sets), as well as new tiles to add to your creations.

What you need to know about chamber dungeons in Zelda: Link’s Awakening

There are certain rules you must follow and things you must know when creating Chamber Dungeons:

  • If a Chamber has an outlet, then you must connect it to another room. He can’t go anywhere!
  • Likewise, you can’t have just one flight of stairs. There needs to be another one that can be linked to, although it can be anywhere on the map.
  • If you are placing tiles as part of one of Dampe’s challenges, you must follow its rules, such as placing certain items (a chest or a closed door) where indicated on the screen.

  • You can’t decide what’s inside each chest (they usually contain rupees or small keys, depending on the locked doors in your dungeon), while the last chest you open will always contain the Nightmare Key, which will take you to the boss.
  • When the Chamber is ready to be completed, the backgrounds of all tiles will change from red to blue.
  • Once you have completed your design, you must first play it before saving the design.

  • Each Chamber must have a starting and ending boss, and all Chamber Dungeons always have the same goal: open all the chests and defeat Nightmare without losing any hearts.
  • While you don’t keep the items in a Chamber Dungeon game, you do keep any rupees you find along the way.
  • Finally, to save you having to travel around the map, there is a warp point just above Dampe’s hut that is worth activating, allowing you to reach it again from other warp points you find.

  • Completing the Dampe challenges will not only give you more Chamber Stones, but also a secret seashell and a piece of heart along the way.
  • How to save and share Chamber Dungeons with amiibo in Zelda: Link’s Awakening

Once you have played and completed a chamber dungeon, it will be saved to your game.

To share a saved design with another player, when talking to Dampe, select the ‘amiibo’ option. As long as you have a Legend of Zelda amiibo, you can download that skin with ‘Store Dungeon’. Now, on another Switch, select ‘amiibo’ again and opt to load it with ‘Receive Dungeon’, sharing the design with that version of the game.

Please note that the only way to share Chamber Dungeon skins is through amiibo; There is no pairing option with other Switches or online functionality that allows you to do so. At least it puts that amiibo collection to use, right?

How to get new Chamber Stones in Zelda: Link’s Awakening

There are several ways to get new Chamber Stones, which are the rooms that make up each Chamber Dungeon:

    • Complete new dungeons and each completed dungeon adds a new set of tiles to your collection.
    • Complete the challenges that Dampe proposes to you.
    • Earn them from the Mabe Village Trendy game
    • Find secret Seashell locations (two total)
    • Scanning Legend of Zelda amiibo

You can tell if they are from challenges or Trendy Game by the yellow exclamation point in the list of tiles when you first see them, while amiibo have the amiibo logo.

Let’s take a closer look at the last point: the cameras you get when unlocking amiibo…

Our Zelda: Link’s Awakening walkthrough and guide can help you with the critical path, including the Eagle’s Tower and Turtle Rock dungeons. There’s plenty to do too, including Zelda Link’s Awakening Heart Pieces, Zelda Secret Seashells, and the Zelda Link’s Awakening Business Sequence. Finally, there’s also the new Zelda Chamber Dungeons feature to unlock and complete.

Which amiibo are unlocked in Zelda: Link’s Awakening

In addition to the ability to save and share Chamber Dungeon designs, scanning Legend of Zelda amiibo also allows you to unlock five additional Chamber Stones to use in your creations.

The order and type of amiibo you scan doesn’t matter, as long as it’s one from the Legend of Zelda (this can include Link and Zelda from Super Smash Bros., anything from that series, essentially). Once you have scanned five, no other unlocks will be added. These are:

    Chamber of the Great Fairy:

    Moblin Boss Chamber:

    Ball and chain soldier chamber:

    Winged Object Chamber:

Chamber of the Knight of Armos:

Finally, the amiibo released specifically for Zelda: Link’s Awakening will unlock an additional feature: a Shadow Link that will follow you through the dungeon.

With the new link #amiiboyou can add Shadow Link to your chamber dungeons in The Legend of #Zelda: Link’s awakening. This malevolent shadow chases Link through dungeons, so prepare to fight… or run! pic.twitter.com/zwohR6wYCy
