The presence of Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats in the game shouldn’t come as a big surprise: the first of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption games had them, as did the Grand Theft Auto series.
That said, the place to enter Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats is a bit hidden, so you’d be forgiven if you notice they’re there.

How to enter cheat codes in Red Dead Redemption 2
To enter cheats in Red Dead Redemption 2, pause the game and then go to Settings. Then, press Triangle (or Y on Xbox), as suggested in the bottom right corner.
You will then come to a long list of Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats. They will all be locked and by entering codes you will be able to make them available. Press Triangle (or Y on Xbox) to do this.
Now, any cheat that has already been unlocked will be available to turn on and off, meaning you’ll only have to enter each cheat once to access it whenever you want.
Of course, as soon as you enable it, you’ll get a warning: activating a cheat means you won’t be able to save your single-player progress or collect trophies or achievements. In short, anything you do from then on won’t count.

How to unlock newspaper cheats in Red Dead Redemption 2
As mentioned above, there are certain requirements regarding newspapers sold to vendors in settlements. You must have the corresponding newspaper to unlock the cheat, which is printed at the bottom if you turn it over, like this:
Do you see that abundance is the most boring desire at heart? Own this newspaper and enter the cheat to unlock Infinite Ammo.
If you try to enter these types of cheats ahead of time, the game will show you an error message that says “You do not meet the prerequisites to unlock this cheat.”
There are three different types of newspapers, which will launch new editions throughout history. You can choose to buy them from Valentine (New Hanover Gazette), Strawberry (Blackwater Ledger), and Rhodes (Saint Denis Times) as you go, or wait until the end to catch up on the back catalog.
