Pokémon Go Investigating Illusions quest steps, rewards and price explained

Investigating illusions was a mission in Pokémon Go.

Like A Colossal Discovery and A Drive to Investigate, it was a paid event that could only be accessed by paying real-world money.

One key difference, however, is that it was only available during Abra’s Community Day in April 2020. And unlike other quests, it could only be started and finished during the event time.

How Illusion Research Worked in Pokémon Go

‘Investigating Illusions’ was the third paid in-game event to occur in Pokémon Go, following in the footsteps of A Colossal Discovery and A Drive to Investigate.

It will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2020 and will only be accessible during Abra Community Day in Pokémon Go and, unlike other events, must have been fully completed before it concludes.

But with four short steps and the ability to play it solo considering the Covid 19 outbreak, this was possible for most players.

‘Research Illusions’ also worked slightly differently than other special research quests for Mythical Pokémon like Jirachi, in that the final reward was not for a new Pokémon.

Instead, it primarily rewarded Stardust, XP, and consumable items as part of capturing and evolving Abra, the focus of that day’s Community Day.

Beyond the ‘Investigating Illusions’ event badge, there are no exclusive items or rewards during the quest that you can’t obtain through other means.

That said, it is good value for money, with many items adding up to more than the £0.99/$0.99 entry fee, especially when you take into account the Poffin, which is otherwise only available at the store or through other quests as a reward.
