How to get rupees in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

There are plenty of ways to earn Rupees in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as you can sell pretty much anything you collect while traveling around Hyrule to vendors scattered around the map. However, some methods are better than others and we have listed some of the best ways we have found to earn rupees fast.

Sell gems

One of the quickest and easiest ways to earn quick Rupees in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is to sell gems that you have mined or collected on your travels in Hyrule.

The rarer or higher quality the gem, the more it is worth. The diamonds are worth a whopping 500 rupees each, so they are worth searching for if you need money. Here is a list of all the gems we have sold so far and how many rupees they were worth:

  • Amber – 10 rupees.
  • Opal – 30 rupees.
  • Topaz – 80 rupees.
  • Ruby – 110 rupees.
  • Sapphire – 150 rupees.
  • Diamond: 500 rupees.

If you really want to get the diamond rewards, you can always visit Ramella in Goron City. If you give her a batch of 10 diamonds, she can give you 5500 rupees.

However, it’s worth remembering that you can increase weapon durability by using Fuse to attach gems to a weapon or shield, so we recommend reserving a couple of your favorites.

Sell meals

Another good way to get Rupees fast in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is to harvest good quality ingredients and rare ingredients and then become Chef Link by cooking them into high level dishes in Cooking Pots. You can sell food to any vendor you find in Hyrule.

Remember, the rarer or higher quality the ingredients and food, the more money the dish is worth, as long as you don’t make “dubious” food. Nobody really wants that.

Sell elixirs

If you don’t want to sell meals, you can always cook and sell elixirs too. The same rules apply to them as to selling food: the higher the quality of the ingredients and the Elixir or the rarer the ingredients, the more the Elixir will be worth.

Sell Star Fragments

You can use Star Fragments for a variety of things, but if you really don’t know what to do with them, you can always sell them for 200 rupees each. That said, we highly recommend using them to upgrade your armor in Great Fairies if you can, as it takes a lot of effort and luck to track down these items.

Sell armor pieces

As you explore the heights and depths of Hyrule, you’ll come across quite a few pieces of armor in chests and helping residents across the country. This can mean that your inventory ends up full of armor pieces that are similar to each other in stats, style, and general usability.

You can sell armor pieces to any vendor. Selling prices for armor pieces will vary and we recommend selling only the pieces you really know you don’t want. For example, if you have two pieces of armor that improve your ability to resist cold, but one is high level and the other is lower beginner level, we recommend selling the lower one.

Shoot the Blupees

We know, we know, how could you photograph something so adorable and useful? Well, we highly recommend following the Blupees first to find out where they take you, as they often show you entrances to caves that you might otherwise miss.

Then if you really need it, you can shoot the Blupees with arrows and they can drop between 20 and 100 rupees each time.

Help Addison with President Hudson’s posters.

In your travels, you’ve probably met Addison, the person who diligently tries to hold up President Hudson’s posters all over Hyrule. If you help them out by using the nearby material caches to create a record-keeping stand, Addison will reward you with Rupees, as well as valuable food and a ticket to the slumber party.

Fight against stone slope

These mini-bosses can be found throughout Hyrule, and knowing how to defeat Stone Talus will fill your pockets with rewards.

While fighting a Talus it will drop various gems and then once defeated it will explode into a pile of gems which you can then sell to vendors. Additionally, Talus also tends to lose a few rupees once defeated.

Collect and sell dragon fragments

Have you seen the dragons relaxing in the skies of Hyrule? These dragons have valuable dragon shards, but you must land on a dragon’s back to obtain them. We found that the two easiest ways to land on a Dragon is to launch it from a nearby Skyview Tower or jump onto it from a Sky Island above.

When you get on a Dragon’s back, hit its spinal spikes to make them produce shards. Collect dragon fragments to sell to any vendor. So far, we’ve only sold Naydra Shards for 30 Rupees each, but we got 12 of them in one visit to the Dragon, resulting in 360 Rupees in a single loot.
