The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a short format T20 cricket tournament known for its exciting games and explosive batting. Since its inception in 2008, the Indian Premier League has been a platform for some of the most exciting and highest-scoring cricket matches in the world.
With some of the biggest names in the game representing eight franchise teams, the IPL has consistently produced exciting and memorable moments for fans around the world. High spin totals are not uncommon in the IPL. In fact, it is considered a bad effort if teams fail to score more than 200 runs for certain reasons.
But sometimes teams go a step further and post huge totals that look like the score of an ODI game. Some of the most popular pitches, the Eden Garden Stadium in Kolkata and the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, are known to be batting paradises and a graveyard for bowlers. Many teams have even chased targets of 200+ runs in those stadiums.
Today we bring you the list of the highest team scores in the history of the IPL. Take a look at the highest totals recorded on the scoreboard in IPL history. From record-breaking partnerships to explosive batting displays, these scores showcase the best of T20 cricket and the incredible talent on display in the IPL.

TOP 5 biggest scorers ever seen in IPL
1. Royal Challengers from Bangalore (263/5)
April 23, 2013 was a historic night in the Indian Premier League. Playing against Pune Warriors India, IPL’s beloved franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore scored a mammoth total of 263 with the loss of just 5 wickets. Only RCB’s star player Chris Gayle contributed 175 runs and was not out. That is considered a respectable team score in IPL. A few more balls and Gayle would have scored a double century in T20 cricket. Other RCB players like Tillakaratne Dilshan, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers played supporting roles as Gayle etched his name forever in the history books. Pune Warriors India were restricted to 133/9.
2. Lucknow Super Giants (257/5)
Lucknow Super Giants almost surpassed RCB’s almost unbeatable record when they scored 257 runs in 20 overs, losing only 5 wickets. LSG batted first against Punjab Kings, and all the players in the team came onto the field and started hitting boundaries. Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran were the MVPs, scoring 72 of 40 and 45 of 19, respectively. PBKS also batted well and would have won on any other day but fell short by 56 runs even after scoring 201 runs.
3. Royal Challengers from Bengaluru (248/3)
It is a rare scenario when two players score a century in the same T20 match. RCB achieved the feat in 2016 against Gujarat Lions. Virat Kohli scored 109 runs in 55 balls, while AB de Villiers scored 129 runs in 52 deliveries. Gujarat Lions were restricted to 104 runs in 20 overs.
4. Chennai Super Kings (246/5)
Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals played in a classic match in 2010. CSK scored 246 runs batting first with 5 wickets to spare. RR also played incredibly but could only reach 223 runs. Murali Vijay of CSK was the MVP of the match, having scored 127 runs in 56 balls.
5. Riders of the Knights of Calcutta (245/6)
Kings XI Punjab were in for another exciting but high-scoring match as Kolkata Knight Riders posted a massive total of 245 runs in 20 overs. Sunil Narine was the man of the match. The West Indies all-rounder opened for KKR and scored 75 runs off 26 deliveries. KXIP put up a fight, with captain Ravichandran Ashwin and the team doing their best, but to no avail. KKR won by 31 runs.
