IPL 2023 Winners List: The Indian Premier League is a popular cricket tournament in India that is organized annually and attracts millions of viewers from around the world. The IPL follows a Twenty20 format and features 10 teams over the course of two months, competing against each other to lift the coveted IPL trophy.

The IPL debuted in 2008 and has been held every year without interruption since then. Even during the pandemic, the tournament managed to entertain fans and is now returning for its 16th season. The IPL has become synonymous with exciting finishes and closely contested matches. However, only one team manages to be the final winner and so far, seven teams have achieved the feat.

Mumbai Indians (5) and Chennai Super Kings (5) are the franchises that have lifted the IPL trophy the most times. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are the only other team to have won the IPL more than once, having done so twice in 2012 and 2014. Gujarat Titans, who debuted for the first time in the 2022 IPL, are the defending champions, having won the tournament in its inaugural outing.

IPL 2023 Winning Team

The final match, which was scheduled to take place on May 28, was interrupted due to heavy rain in Ahmedabad. Because the match could not take place on the scheduled date, it was moved to Reserve Day. Then, the final will take place on Monday, May 29. Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to play in the first innings. GT took charge of the area and showed incredible resilience against the Chennai players. Sai Sudarshan proved to be a handful for the bowlers as the hard-hitting batsman scored 96 off 47 balls. GT’s overall score was 214/4.

Chennai’s target was to score 215 runs, but it was reduced to 171 (DLS) as rain delayed the match by two hours. In an action-packed innings that saw almost the entire CSK batting order shine, Devon Conway and Ravindra Jadeja were the standouts. The opening partnership between Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad gave the necessary boost to Chennai and the remaining players Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja kept the show going.

Unfortunately, MS Dhoni scored a golden duck but CSK won the match by five wickets despite Mohit Sharma’s smothering death. Chennai Super Kings are now tied with Mumbai Indians for winning the most IPL titles (5).
