The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PM-GKAY) is a social welfare scheme launched by the Government of India in April 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to provide financial assistance to the economically weaker sections of the society affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The plan includes distribution of food grains to eligible households and cash transfers to women and senior citizens. The scheme was implemented as part of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package, which aimed to provide relief to those affected by the pandemic, particularly the poor and marginalized.

The plan aims to help mitigate the economic impact of the pandemic on the most vulnerable sectors of the population and provide support for their basic needs.

Under the scheme, the government provides 5kg of free foodgrains every month in addition to subsidized rations provided to families covered by the Public Distribution System under the National Food Security Act.
