The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was established in 1983 and is located in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. It is dedicated to preserving the history of influential figures in the music industry, especially in the field of rock and roll. Initially, the induction had four categories: performers, non-performers, early influencers, and lifelong achievers. In 2000, the “accompanist” category was introduced.
The Performer category is the only category with new inductees every year. To be eligible for induction, artists must wait 25 years after the release of their first recording. Nominators are selected by a committee, with up to 16 candidates each year, and more than 1,000 music experts receive ballots to evaluate and vote on their choices. The performers who receive the most votes will be inducted, with the number of inductees varying each year.
Starting in 2012, fans also have the opportunity to vote, with their votes carrying equal weight as experts. Since 2017, ceremonies celebrating new inductees have been held annually at alternating New York and Cleveland Halls of Fame. As of 2022, there are 365 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Awards
In the 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Awards, the famous music group The Spinners were inducted into the Hall of Fame. New Edition paid tribute to them with a show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, where they performed some of the Spinners’ famous songs in matching outfits.
