The Catch Challenge will take place during February 2022 in Pokémon Go.
This is the third monthly challenge presented as part of the Heritage Season, the previous ones being the Stardust Challenge and the XP Challenge.
Throughout the month, you will receive double XP for each egg that hatches, as well as an increase in Candy XL from the eggs. And, if you have access to a Timed Research, you’ll be able to complete the Capture Challenge to earn a new avatar item.

How to access the Catch Challenge in Pokémon Go
If you want to complete the Catch challenge in Pokémon Go, you must have purchased the Tour: Johto ticket before Monday, February 10, 2022.
These tickets can be obtained through the in-game store (accessed through the main menu) and cannot be purchased with PokéCoin. A ticket costs £9.99 / $11.99.
Don’t want to buy the ticket to access the research, but want the avatar reward? Don’t worry, it will be available for purchase in the store once the season ends.
Steps and rewards of the Catch Challenge mission in Pokémon Go
Below you will find all the requirements and rewards for the February catch challenge in Pokémon Go.
This section contains spoilers for the full mission, so if you want to be surprised, we recommend skipping it.
The Catch Challenge, like last month’s XP Challenge, is broken down into an overall count of Pokémon caught for the main reward (600 total), as well as 15 individual steps.
The Noibat hat for your avatar is the ultimate reward for this challenge.
It’s important to note that while the overall count records each Pokémon caught until the goal is reached, individual steps are reset. This means that if you catch some Pokémon when you’ve completed a step, those catches won’t count as progress toward the next step.
As such, it’s worth checking step progress regularly!
The main reward for the Catch challenge is the Noibat hat, and if you don’t complete the challenge or participate in it, this item will be available in the in-game avatar shop when January ends.
Playing daily, using lures and incense, and if you can, having access to a Go Plus are great ways to help with this challenge.
In addition to the rewards listed below, you will also receive a small amount of XP for completing each step.

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! The Psychic Spectular event is back! You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
Catch Challenge dates and bonuses in Pokémon Go
The Catch Challenge includes bonuses that will be in effect throughout February 2022 and will be available to everyone, whether you have previously purchased a ticket for Tour: Johto or not.
These bonuses are:
- 2x XP for hatching eggs
- Increase of Candy XL by hatching eggs
Both the Catch Challenge and its bonus will be available from Tuesday, February 1 to Monday, January 28, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (local time). Remember: To participate in the Catch Challenge you must pre-purchase a ticket for Tour: Johto before Monday, February 10, 2022.
