BIDOOF is a special research quest line released in Pokémon Go as part of the Bidoof Breakout event.
Unlike previous research missions, BIDOOF offers you a selection of paths, allowing you to receive different rewards for completing certain challenges.

The BIDOOF research mission in Pokémon Go consists of four stages and has no deadline, so you can complete it whenever you want.
What sets this research quest apart from others is that, at the beginning of some stages, you will be asked to choose one of two options. Your decision will affect the rewards you receive from the three challenges you must complete to progress.
Below you will find all the available paths for BIDOOF research, along with the challenges and rewards, so beware of spoilers!

‘BIDOOF’ Step 1 of 4
- Use 3 Berries to Help Catch Pokémon: Bidoof Encounter
- Catch 6 Normal Type Pokémon: 3 Pineapple Berries
- Capture 3 Bidoof – Encounter with Bidoof
Rewards: 399 XP, 399 Stardust, and an encounter with Bidoof
‘BIDOOF’ Step 2 of 4
You will be offered two options when you reach this step: Choose Bidoof! and Bidoof…?
Choose Bidoof! challenges and rewards:
- Catch 1 Normal Type Pokémon: Bidoof Encounter
- Take a Bidoof Snapshot – 3 Pineapple Berries
- Capture 5 Bidoof – Encounter with Bidoof
Rewards: 399 XP, 399 Stardust, and an encounter with Bidoof
Bidoof…? challenges and rewards:
- Catch 1 Normal Type Pokémon: Bidoof Encounter
- Take a Snapshot of Bidoof – 5 Razz Berries
- Capture 5 Bidoof – Encounter with Bidoof
Rewards: 399 XP, 399 Stardust, and an encounter with Bidoof
‘BIDOOF’ Step 3 of 4
When you reach this step, you will be offered the choice between: Nerves of Steel and Nests Near Water.
Nerves of Steel Challenges and Rewards:
- Transfer 10 Pokémon – 10 Super Potions
- Take a Snapshot of Bidoof – Bidoof Encounter
- Catch 10 Bidoof – 5 Raspberries
Rewards: 399 XP, 399 Stardust, and an encounter with Bidoof
Nests near water challenges and rewards:
- Transfer 10 Pokémon – 10 PokéBalls
- Take a Snapshot of Bidoof – Bidoof Encounter
- Catch 10 Bidoof – 3 Pineapple Berries
Rewards: 399 XP, 399 Stardust, and an encounter with Bidoof
‘Bidoof Day’ Step 4 of 4
- Capture 5 Bidoof – Encounter with Bidoof
- Capture 10 Bidoof – Encounter with Bidoof
- Capture 15 Bidoof – Encounter with Bidoof

Which BIDOOF research route is the best in Pokémon Go?
When it comes to choosing your path through the BIDOOF research mission in Pokémon Go, it’s important to remember that no matter your choice, you’ll face the same challenges.
This means that there is no easier path through this quest line and your decision should focus on what rewards you will receive.
For the second stage of this quest, the reward difference comes down to whether you want to receive Razz Berries for choosing ‘Bidoof…’ or Pinap Berries for choosing ‘Choose Bidoof!’ You’ll be rewarded with more Razz Berries, but ultimately, there’s no true best option here.
However, there is a better choice between “Nerves of Steel” and “Nests Near Water”.
While ‘Nerves of Steel’ will give you 10 Super Potions for transferring 10 Pokémon, ‘Nests Near Water’ will give you 10 PokéBalls for completing this challenge.
These additional PokéBalls will be incredibly useful for completing the final challenge of stage three, ‘Catch 10 Bidoof’, and the entirety of stage four, which involves catching 15 Bidoof.
The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! The Out to Play event is currently taking place. You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
Explanation of branching routes and research missions in Pokémon Go
Branching Research Missions are a new type of Special Research Mission in Pokémon Go.
As the name suggests, these missions offer you the opportunity to branch out into different sets of challenges and earn different rewards.
These options are known as routes and you will select one when you reach its specific stage in the research quest. You will be asked to confirm your selection after making it, and you will not be able to change your mind afterward.
You will be asked to confirm your chosen route to ensure it is right for you!
BIDOOF is the first branched research quest to launch in Pokémon Go, and if you purchase a ticket to Go Fest 2021, you’ll unlock another special branched research quest.
