Gloom-Borne Illness side quest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Gloom-Borne Illness is a side quest you can start in Kakariko Village in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

This quest involves cooking a meal that can cure someone from Gloom, one of the new threats affecting Hyrule in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Completing it will net you some useful rewards, including reduced prices at the Kakariko Village armor shop.

However, before you can earn these rewards, you need to know where to get Hylian Rice and Fresh Milk in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Not forgetting to know exactly which wild green you need for the Gloom-Borne Illness side quest.

How to Start a Dark-Borne Disease in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

To start the Gloom-Borne Illness side quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you must first talk to Lasli in Kakariko Village.

She can be found sitting near a campfire on the east side of Kakariko Village, with the coordinates approximately 1908, -1003, 0127. She will even be there during the night, so Lasli is not difficult to find.

Lasli will explain that her grandmother became ill due to Gloom infesting Hyrule while she was helping the research team. In an attempt to cure her, Lasli is attempting to cook a porridge that will cure Gloom’s illness.

Her recipe includes Hylian rice, fresh milk, and wild greens, but it doesn’t seem to work. This is because, instead of any old wild vegetable, you need to find a specific flower: a dandelion.

Sundelions Locations in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Embers are the mysterious and healing Gloom ingredient you need for the Gloom-borne Disease side quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Suns can be found on sky islands floating above Hyrule, but that doesn’t make them easy to find. We recommend questing through Great Sky Island or using the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower in the Akkala Highlands to reach the Sokkala Sky Archipelago.

Once in the sky, land on the sky island containing Flux Construct II (make sure you land on a part of the island that contains a small ruin) and you will easily find a pair of Sundelions. The coordinates of this location are 3779, 1885, 0992.

You can also find three Sundelions around a small stone at the far end of the Forgotten Temple, but once you’ve collected all of the Dragon Tear Memories, you might feel a little guilty about choosing them. The coordinates of these Sundelions within the Forgotten Temple are -0995, 2755, -0078.

Where to get Hylian rice and fresh milk in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Before you can return to Lasli to complete Gloom-Borne Illness in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you must collect the other two ingredients: Hylian Rice and Fresh Milk.

Fortunately, Hylian Rice and Fresh Milk can be easily obtained at the Hateno Village General Store for 12 rupees each.

You can easily buy them from street vendors. Parga, for example, can be found wandering around Hyrule Field and also sells ingredients for 12 rupees. However, these street vendors may not have Hylian rice or fresh milk, so we recommend visiting the general store in Hateno if you don’t already have them.

How to complete Gloom-Borne Illness and rewards in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Once you have all the ingredients, it’s time to complete the Gloom-Borne Illness side quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Return to Lasli and cook the Hylian Rice, Fresh Milk, and Sundelion in the pot in front of her. This will create a Sunny Veggie Porridge, a recipe you may want to remember, because not only will it replenish three hearts, but it will also restore three hearts if the darkness breaks them.

Talk to Lasli after cooking the food and give her the porridge. She will give the porridge to her grandmother, Nanna, and with that, the side quest is complete!

You will receive an energizing vegetable porridge, and if you visit the armor shop in Kakariko Village, you will find that the prices have been reduced.

Clothing in Enchanted will now cost:

  • Stealth Mask – 500 rupees
  • Stealth Chest Protector: 700 rupees
  • Stealth Tights: 600 rupees
  • Radiant Mask – 800 rupees
  • Radiant Shirt – 800 rupees
  • Radiant Tights – 800 rupees

The first time you purchase an item from this store, you will also receive Shiekah paragliding fabric.
