Where to find a staff in Elden Ring is much harder than you think.
Unless you have a specific starting class, you’ll find sorcery-casting staves surprisingly difficult to come by.
For some players who want to focus on melee combat, this won’t be a problem, but for many, the option for ranged attacks when the situation or enemy demands it is incredibly useful, especially against bosses like the Tree Sentinel.
Although you’ll encounter vendor and merchant staff as you progress along the critical path, if you want to find a staff location at the start of Elden Ring, and a Wizardry Professor to develop your array of spells, then you need to know where to find them. look. Fortunately, neither are too far away or difficult to obtain.

Elden Ring Staff Location: Where to Find an Early Staff in Elden Ring
It’s surprisingly difficult to find staff during opening hours, so you’ll have to go to a specific location to find one.
Our recommendation for a staff location in Elden Ring is the Demihuman Forest Ruins on the Weeping Peninsula.
This is an area south of Limgrave that can be accessed without having to unlock or fight any bosses first.
Once you’ve unlocked the Torrent horse, head southwest of Limgrave and cross the Bridge of Sacrifice.
It’s full of enemies, but if you’re quick, they shouldn’t hurt you. (That said, it’s worth stopping at the corpse on the other side to get the Stone Sword Key.)
Then, take the path south until it splits into two directions: forward (south) and right (west). Our recommendation is to go south first, past the merchant and through the wall to the Map Fragment so you can better see where you need to go, then return to the divide and head west.
To the northwest will be the Demihuman Forest Ruins, which is where we must go in search of the personnel:
In the north of this place there is an encounter with the Demihuman Queen. Despite its size and the minions, this should be an easy battle, as long as you have at least one slightly stronger weapon and have leveled up the stats a bit.
Battle against the Demihuman Queen.
Take out the minions beyond the walls and take them out first, then use the ruins as cover from the Queen’s ranged attacks.
When you are defeated, you will receive the Staff of the Demihuman Queen and the Crystal Burst to use on it.
The stat requirements are very low (only 6 Strength), meaning you’re pretty much ready to start using it right away.
How to equip and use sorcery spells with the staff in Elden Ring
Once you have a staff in your possession, assign it to your left or right hand as you would any melee weapon, shield, or torch.
Next, visit a Site of Grace. You will have the option to Memorize Spell.
This is where you can assign the spells or enchantments you have collected to previous memory slots.
Then, with the staff equipped, press Up on the D-Pad to rotate through the assigned memory slots.
Do you want more spells in your locker? Then it is worth visiting the Sorceress Sellen…
Elden Ring Wizardry Professor Location
Our recommendation for an early game Wizardry Professor location is Waypoint Ruins, on the border between East and West Limgrave.
Head east of Lake Agheel and you’ll find some ruins with plant creatures wandering inside.
Not far from where the largest plant is located you will find an underground entrance.
Inside is a boss encounter with Mad Pumpkin Head. By all indications, this is an easy battle; The boss focuses on melee attacks and is quite predictable once you look at his attacks; just make sure to keep your shield up if you’re caught off guard.
Also, know that the helmet will protect the boss from hits, so approach from the sides or behind when the boss is folded.
Once this is done, activate the Siege of Grace and go through the door to meet the Sorceress Sellen.
Agree to become his student and you will have access to a number of sorceries, if you have the Runes, of course. Remember that each also has a stat requirement, so make sure you meet those before purchasing them, or they won’t be able to be equipped.
Once you’ve decided on a starting class and a starting keepsake item, you first need to figure out how to level up, how to respec, and how to use Ashes of War. Do you need any directions from there? Where to find the location of the Royal House Scroll
If you wish to expand your range of spells even further, visit the large ruins in the southeast of Limgrave. You’ll know you’re in the right place where you’ll find a bandit camp at the base.
On top of the westernmost ruined structure will be a skeleton mage. Defeating them will drop the Royal House Scroll.
Now take this to Sellen, then select the Give a Scroll option.
