Maliketh the Black Blade is a tough and mandatory main boss that you will have to defeat in the Elden Ring story.
You can find Maliketh the Black Blade in the Leyndell, Ash Capital section in Elden Ring.
Maliketh the Black Blade can be an especially brutal enemy to deal with, so we recommend cooperating for the tough fight ahead, or even a Spirit Ash Summon to help you on your way to killing the boss.

How to prepare for Maliketh the Black Blade
Summoning an ally for Maliketh the Black Blade is practically mandatory. The Mimic Tear Ash summon works wonders here, if you’ve upgraded it multiple times using materials located in the Roundtable Hold.
Additionally, the boss is weak to Frost damage, so Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War works wonders here to decimate its health.
However, since FromSoftware has effectively nerfed Hoarfrost Stomp, you may want to consider taking a weapon with bleed damage. The Hoarfrost Stomp still deals considerable damage, but it now takes longer to cast, meaning you’re an easy target for longer against the towering boss. Alternatively, you might want to take a strong Sorcery attack – Blasphemous Blade works wonders here, for example.
Maliketh the Black Blade Tips: How to Beat Maliketh the Black Blade
Yes, Maliketh the Black Blade actually has a different name during his first phase. Here you will encounter the Beast Cleric, who runs towards you and pulls out his claws.
This boss phase can be pretty quick and you’ll want to run away from it as you enter the arena, position yourself behind a pillar, and then summon an ally like Mimic Tear.
The Beast Cleric has two ranged attacks that you should pay attention to. Both involve him returning his left hand, before throwing a huge rock or a large amount of rubble at you.
However, they are relatively easy to dodge, as rolling to either side when the boss puts his arm forward can almost always ensure your safety.
Otherwise, you’ll want to time your dodge around the Beast Cleric’s outstretched claw.
It’s imperative to dodge roll across the boss in this phase, and if he stops with his claw on the ground, be ready to dodge roll right away, as he’s about to unleash a strike that sends lines across the ground towards you in a cone formation. .
When the health is about half, a scene plays out and surprise! The Beast Cleric is now none other than Maliketh the Black Blade.
As soon as the second phase of this fight begins, be prepared to dodge, or even run away from, a series of attacks in which the boss slashes with his massive sword and sends arcs spinning towards you through the air.
In fact, we recommend getting behind one of the arena’s many pillars in this phase, as it’s a sure-fire way to avoid attacks entirely.
Giant slashes are basically Maliketh the Black Blade’s only attacks during this phase, but they hit very hard.
The Hoarfrost Stomp will deal significant damage to the boss while it is on the ground, and don’t be afraid to use the pillars to your advantage during this phase. Some might call it cheese, but FromSoftware put it there for a reason.

Maliketh the Black Blade drops 220,000 runes upon defeat, a considerable reward for your efforts. She will also grant you the Black Sword Remembrance item, which can be exchanged in Roundtable Hold for some powerful items and skills.
Now it’s time to continue the fight through Leyndell, Ash Capital, because the goal of Elden Ring is in sight.
