Fia’s quest in Elden Ring is one of the most fascinating, and finishing it unlocks an alternate version of the Elden Ring ending once you’ve beaten the final boss.
However, it’s also full of tricky steps, rare items like the Worn Dagger and the Death Mending Rune, not to mention a host of secret locations to discover.

How to start the quest for Fia in Elden Ring
To start Fia’s quest, you will need to complete Ranni’s quest until you get the Finger Slayer Blade.
This allows you to enter Nokron, the Eternal City, defeating Starscourge Radahn, then finding a room under a statue of a giant finger reader.
Once you have the Finger Slayer Blade, it’s time to find the Death Curse.
Where to find the cursed mark of death
You may have already explored this area, in which case you’ll have a good time coming back here much more powerful than you probably were before. Enter Carian’s study room and place the inverted statue of Carian on the pedestal in the first room.
Now you will have to fight your way through the tower until you reach the Divine Tower and then grab the Cursed Mark of Death from above. With that in hand, it’s time to return to Fia and continue the mission.
What to do with the worn dagger in Fia’s quest
Head to Fia in Roundtable Hold and let her hug you once more, and you should have a conversation option about a dagger. If she’s not there, try talking to her about everything else first and she should show up.
Now you will need to find the owner of the Worn Dagger. The good news is that they aren’t too far away, as the owner is the mysterious D. Now, this quest line spells the end for poor D, so make sure you’ve talked to them as much as you want before you go. and giving them the dagger.
Rest at the Site of Grace in the Fortress and you should see that D is gone. If you now go through Blacksmith Hewg, you will see that the door on the top floor behind him is now open.
Enter this room and you will find Fia there and you can talk to her. Exhausting her dialogue will cause Fia to go on her own journey, and that means it’s time to continue our journey too.
How to get to Deeproot Depths and find Fia’s location
Fia will now move to Deeproot Depths. This area can be reached through the Nokron aqueduct. To get here, head to the Ancestral Woods Site of Grace. From here, head northeast and up and you’ll see some jellyfish.
You must follow this path and drop down and you will find the Site of Grace of the Cliffs facing the Aqueduct.
This is a mini-dungeon that ends with a fight against two huge gargoyles, in the style of the original Dark Souls. Hit them and you’ll notice a small coffin near the back of the boss arena.
You must climb into this coffin and you will find yourself in the Deeproot Depths, near the Great Waterfall Crest grace site. There’s an Erdtree avatar here that doesn’t respawn, but after you beat him, you’ll have to turn right and cross the chasm using the roots.
Once past the roots, you will have to continue moving forward to the edge of the cliff and you should see the Site of Grace of the Nameless Eternal City. Rest in this and then continue towards the ruined city here.
When you are among the ruins, your goal should be to climb the roots and head to the Site of Grace Across the Roots. From here, simply enter the large area and you will have to fight the Fia champions.

How to get the death repair rune
Once you’ve defeated this boss, you’ll get a new Site of Grace and Fia should be near the back of the area near the teleport gate. If not, rest on the Grace or travel to another location and then return.
Go to Fia and when you have the option, say you want to be held. From here, keep talking to Fia until you can give her the Cursed Mark of Death that you already have in your inventory because you are an achiever.
Now you will need to rest and then talk to Fia again. Repeat this until you can’t talk to her because she is no longer sitting or seemingly alive, and you will be able to interact with Fia and then you will be able to enter the Deathbed Dream. Doing so will lead you to a boss fight with Lichdragon Fortissax. Hit them and you will abandon the dream.
Now return to Fia again and you can collect the Prince of Death’s Repair Rune, the final step.
All you need to do now is follow the game to the end and you will get the Age of Duskborn ending.
