Destiny 2 Dusklight Shard sources, EDZ Challenges and Activities explained

Destiny 2’s Dusklight Shard is one of several materials you need to infuse weapons and armor.

You’ll find it in a variety of EDZ Activities and EDZ Daily Challenges.

Where to find Dusklight Shards in Destiny 2

Just like in the original Destiny, there are planetary materials you need to pay attention to as you wander around. These appear randomly on the edges of roads, buildings or perched on structures. One of them is Dusklight Shard, which you will find in the EDZ.

Like chests, by default they will not appear on your front screen and only when you are nearby will you be able to collect them.

If you are growing them, then the easiest way is to wander around, using your sparrow whenever you can, and keep your eyes peeled for shiny objects, or just do other activities or challenges, and you will naturally find them.

You can also get ghosts or use scouting reports to show them when you are within a certain radius.

In addition to Patrol, you can receive Dusklight Shards as a reward where you previously received EDZ Planetary Tokens. These include:

  • patrol missions
  • public events
  • Open loot chests
  • Defeat high-powered enemies and open the chest that appears.
  • Complete lost sectors, adventures, and other missions in the EDZ
  • Daily challenges in the EDZ

The Season of the Depths is here along with the Into the Depths quest. You can also know how to go fishing! Don’t forget to keep an eye on the Lost Sector and King’s Fall challenge rotation schedule!

Destiny 2 EDZ Activities Explained

The EDZ offers a number of set activities that you can view on the map as you play through the game’s story and beyond.

Landing Zones/Fast Travel Points:

  • Trostland (unlocked automatically)
  • The Gulch (complete the Fury story mission on Io)
  • Winding Cove (complete the Fury story mission on Io)
  • Sunken Islands (complete the Payback story mission in EDZ)

Adventures are mini-story missions with simple objectives in exchange for random (but limited) equipment. As always, be sure to address

Adventures at its recommended power level.

Exotic Weapons Missions

In addition to the adventures, which are unlocked throughout the story, once you have completed the main story, there are a series of story “Upgrade” missions.

This quest line appears in the EDZ (recommended power level 260). Once completed, you will unlock the first step to obtain the Mida Multi-Tool quest.

Lost Sectors

EDZ has the most Lost Sector mini-dungeons of any planet, and since the challenges often ask you to complete one per day, it’s worth knowing where they are and how to complete them.

public events

Being the largest area, EDZ also has the most public events of any area. Use your map to see where and when they start, and don’t forget to try activating the Heroic Public Event variant to unlock more rewards.

  • Gloss extraction
  • Destroy the Arsenal walker
  • Excavation of the Kabbalah
  • injection platform
  • Taken plague
  • Ether Replenishment

It’s worth paying attention to the location of the current week’s Flashpoint: if it’s the EDZ, you’ll unlock a powerful equipment milestone after completing a series of public events.

Region Chests

Much like the ‘golden chests’ from the first Destiny, each planet has a number of unique chests that you can discover and open. Each contains three tokens for that planet, some Glimmer, and a chance to get loot (up to the limit of 260/270). Although they are marked on the map, our Destiny 2 regional chests page explains their exact positions.

The more activities you play, the more tokens you earn to level up the planet’s faction.

Cabal supply caches, server locations, and other EDZ challenges explained.

Every day at 10am UK time the server will “reset” a series of game activities. The most important of these are the challenges for each activity, which give you a new list of objectives to complete as you explore the EDZ Patrol space.

You will be given three to complete each day. The following is not an exhaustive list, as new challenges may arise as the days go by, but it will give you an idea of what to expect and how to complete them.

  • Cabal Scourge: Defeat 75 Cabal enemies. Cabal are most commonly found around bases in the northwestern areas of the EDZ, in Firebase Hades and Sunken Isles, as well as in the southeast corner of Trostland. Remember that completing other activities will help you unlock them, so focus on other challenges and you will be able to complete it as much as possible without having to put in any effort.
  • Scourge of the Fallen: Defeat 75 Fallen enemies. The fallen are most often found in the southeastern and eastern areas of the EEZ: Trostland, the outskirts, and Maevic Square. Remember that completing other activities will help you unlock them, so focus on other challenges and you will be able to complete it as much as possible without having to put in any effort.

  • EDZ Scavenger – Collect 10 Dusklight Shards – As mentioned above, these are found randomly across the planet. It is one of the most difficult challenges due to its unpredictable nature, but we suggest doing other challenges and public events, and you should find them naturally without having to put in any effort.
  • They served you: Destroy 5 fallen servitors: – These are the purple and gray spheres that you find as part of the Fallen. You can find them in the wild, sometimes as more powerful yellow bar enemies, but your best chance of encountering them is at the public Aether Replenishment event that usually spawns southwest of the Trostland opening area, which you’ll fight. Earn enough to complete this challenge in one go.
  • Reg Legion Raider – Loot 3 Cabal Supply Cache: – Find three loot chests inside the Cabal areas to unlock it. These are to the northwest in Firebase Hades and Sunken Isles (you know you’re in the right place as Cabal will appear everywhere) and you’ll find random loot chests. To make things easier, be sure to use a Scouting Report consumable (purchasable in Cayde-6) to highlight the chests when you approach them.
  • Lost Sectors: You lost a lost sector in a specific area – simply head to the specified area, then find and complete one of these mini-dungeons, and the challenge will be completed when you collect the loot at the end. If you’re struggling, our Lost Sectors page can help you find one.
  • Event Horizon: Successfully complete a public event. You’ll find where and when they occur on your map. Don’t forget to try activating the Heroic Public Event for additional rewards, although it is not necessary for this challenge.
  • Walking the Beat: Complete 3 Patrols: First unlock the patrol missions as part of Cayde’s Patrol Milestone mission set, and choose and complete three of these mini-missions. We recommend taking a kill-or-drop based patrol and then doing a nearby public event to tick off two activities at once.
