How to start the Genocide route in Deltarune Chapter 2

To start the Genocide route, also known as the Werid or Snowgrave route, in Chapter 2 of Deltarune you must wait until you team up with Noelle in Cyber City.

You can start the Genocide route once Noelle joins your party.

Unlike Undertale, you don’t have to kill every enemy you encounter before this point, but you can if you really want that murderous vibe. However, no matter which route you decide to take, you will never be able to kill Sweet Cap’n Cakes.

We recommend stocking up on healing items from Sweet Cap’n Cakes in their shop in Cyber Field before starting the Snowgrave route, because, once you have started walking this path, the shop in Cyber Shop will not be open.

You can buy CD Bagels at their store.

It’s also a good idea to complete the normal Deltarune Chapter 2 route first, so you already know the layout of Cyber City.

Genocide route in Deltrarune Chapter 2 explained

Your first step in completing the Genocide route, also called the Weird or Snowgrave route, in Deltarune Chapter 2 is to backtrack to Trash Field, the first area you visited in Cyber City. Noelle will comment that you’re going the wrong way, but she ignores her and continues.

After all, elections don’t matter.

As you leave the area where you join Noelle, you will encounter a Virovirokun and this is where the Genocide route really begins.

The first twist of this route is that it won’t be Kris who does the murder, but Noelle. To achieve this, we recommend having Kris defend every turn or every match, because this will give him the TP required for Noelle’s Iceshock spell.

Increase your TP so Noelle can use Iceshock.

Noelle must use Iceshock on every enemy she encounters until they are frozen and the fight ends. The enemy will then also be frozen on the overworld screen, helping you keep track of which ones you’ve encountered.

The Genocide route will be aborted if you defeat any enemy using Kris or spare them, so it’s best to have Noelle as your only fighter.

We also recommend visiting the Equip menu, removing Noelle’s silver watch, and equipping it again with Kris. Doing so will unlock some interesting dialogue later on, so don’t delete it!

Remember to give Kris the silver watch.

When you return to the area where Susie and Ralesi left, you will find a Poppups hiding under a cone. Continuing past the pile of trash you landed on, you’ll find another Virovirokun and a Werewire. You can, from some additional dialog, try to enter the Spamton store, but this is not mandatory.

Backtrack to find all the enemies.

With these enemies frozen, return to the area where you first met Noelle. Along the way, you will find an Ambyu-Lane on the first road and a Tasque on the second.

You’ll still have to solve the first mouse puzzle, but the solution is still the same as the normal route through Deltarune Chapter 2: push the block down once and then to the right.

Where to place the block for the first mouse puzzle.

Once this puzzle is completed, continue through the city, using Noelle to freeze the two Ambyu-Lances you encounter. You will then reach two more paths: on one you will find a Virovirokun and a Werewire on the other.

After crossing these roads, you will reach the area that continues with the Ferris Wheel sign. First though, Noelle needs to freeze Virovirokun and Ambyu-Lane. With these enemies trapped in icy torment, you can now interact with the sign and, when prompted, select “I will go with you” and “Noelle will ride with me.”

Choose these dialog options.

Next, visit the merchant on the right side of this area; First, though, make sure you’ve frozen all the enemies in this area. When you talk to the merchant, select the correct dialogue prompts, because if you don’t, the Genocide route will be aborted.

Talk to the merchant and when the time comes, select the ‘We are something else’ option. Once this conversation is over, try to move away from the shopkeeper so he can offer you the FreezeRing. Now she simply needs to repeatedly select “Get” when prompted, until Noelle does as she is told.

The FreezeRing will now be in your weapon inventory and before continuing you need to visit the Equip menu to replace Noelle’s SnowRing with the FreezeRing.

Equip the FreezeRing the moment Noelle gets it for you.

Next, continue through the city and when the option comes up, select the “It’s natural” dialogue option.

In the next area, you will find a group of Tasques who will try to run away from you. Hunt them. Other enemies will now try to avoid Kris and Noelle, but they are all easy to catch.

In the section of town beyond the save point, you’ll find a Werewire on the upper path and another Virovirokun in the lower corner near the chest.

Find these enemies and freeze them.

After leaving this area, you will find yourself on the last two roads of Cyber City. If you’ve followed the Snowgrave route correctly, there will be no cars on the road, allowing you to explore them freely.

The first thing you should do in this area is freeze the Ambyu-Lances on the first path and the Virovirokun, including the Tasques in this fight, on the second. After this, head to the end of the second street where you will find an alley on the left side of the road.

Head down this alley.

Walking to the end of this alley will lead you to a dead end and a dumpster. When interacting with the dumpster, you will hear a mysterious voice informing you how many enemies are left to freeze in Cyber City.

If you followed Snowgrave’s route correctly, the voice will tell you that there are four enemies left. If this number is higher, then you will have to backtrack a bit to find the enemies you missed.

Note the location of this dumpster, because you will come back to it later. For now, however, you need to keep moving around the city.

The next area contains the second mouse puzzle and Noelle will helpfully solve it as long as you keep selecting “Continue”.

Beyond this puzzle, you will find two sets of Corn that, like all the previous ones, must be frozen.

Noelle will solve the next puzzle without being asked, and in the area beyond, you’ll find a pop-up hidden under a trash can in the upper right corner. The last enemies to defeat are the Poppups in the lower left corner.

Find the final popups.

With these enemies defeated, you must now return to that dumpster and select “Yes” twice to receive the ThornRing. Next, head to the Equip menu and give Noelle the ThornRing, before advancing through Cyber City until you reach Berdly.

When you talk to Berdly, make sure to select “Continue”, because the other option will abort the Genocide route.

As in a normal run of Deltarune Chapter 2, you will now find yourself in a fight with Berdly. It is important to note that, due to the ThornRing, Noelle’s health will decrease during the fight, but she should stop at 55.

For this fight, you need to reach 100 TP, which is done by having Kris and Noelle defend and graze Berdly’s attacks. Don’t worry if this takes several turns!

Try to graze some of Berdly’s attacks.

Once you’ve reached 100 TP, select the Snowgrave spell from Noelle’s magic menu. At first, she will refuse to use the move, but she will keep selecting it until she relents!

Congratulations, you have now truly embarked on the Genocide route! Now you can enjoy the changes you have caused in yourself…

Spamton NEO in Deltarune Chapter 2 explained

Walking the Genocide route in Deltarune Chapter 2 not only changes your relationship with Noelle, but also your journey through the Queen’s Castle.

Unlike the normal route, you will begin this journey in the castle foyer, but the butler’s cafeteria and most of the stairs will be blocked. Although you can head down the hallway to the right for some additional dialogue.

You still need to get to the top of the castle, so go up the open stairs and explore the open floors. Along the way you will encounter new enemies called Pipis, who will attack you once and, in doing so, destroy themselves. You’ll also have a mandatory fight with Mauswheel and Tasque Manager, along with two Tasques. There is also an optional fight with a Werewerewire.

Pee pee.

The Genocide route culminates with a tough battle against the Spamton NEO boss, so be sure to stock up on CD Bagels before the fight.

It is impossible to forgive Spamton NEO, so you must defeat him through violence. The best way to do this is to spend your TP on X-Slash, which can be found in the Acts menu and deals more damage than a normal attack. Next to X-Slash, you’ll find FriedPipis, which restores 120 HP and is great for emergency heals.

During Spamton NEO attacks, your heart will turn yellow and you can shoot bullets from it. Holding down the Z button will also allow you to load larger, more powerful bullets – a big shot, you might say.

Don’t you want to be a big shot?

In each attack round, you use the bullets to fight Spamton NEO; this could be destroying incoming Pips, knocking back Spamton NEO in his phone form, or destroying the floating blue versions of his face before they attack you.

These bullets can also be used to destroy Spamton NEO’s nose, eyes, and mouth when it attacks you head-on, which will make a subsequent attack round much easier to complete.

When Spamton NEO is at 10% health, he will increase his defense to such a point that it will make attacking useless. Instead, you must head up the attack menu and call out to your various party members five times until one arrives to help you.

If you’re having trouble defeating Spamton NEO and playing Deltarune Chapter 2 on PC or Mac, luckily there’s a glitch you can take advantage of.

By holding X and pressing Enter, you will be able to continuously fire the Big Shot without having to charge it. Toby Fox has been very kind to us and has not disabled this glitch, but with patch 1.06, he has allowed Spamton NEO to get angry when this glitch is triggered. An act that will cause the damage you receive from him to increase.

He is furious.

Fortunately, this increased damage will reset if you lose the fight, so you can always use this glitch to explore Spamton NEO’s attack patterns before defeating him on your own terms.

Once Spamton NEO is defeated, you will return to your hometown. However, certain things will be different thanks to completing a genocide route; We recommend that you consult with Berdly and visit Rudolph in the hospital.

I hope the Genocide route is an experience.
