The Melody Pokémon research tasks and rewards: How to get Meloetta, Pikachu Rock Star and Pikachu Pop Star in Pokémon Go

Pokémon Melody is the branching special research quest released during Go Fest 2021 in Pokémon Go, allowing you to add Meloetta to your Pokédex.

Since the initial release of Meloetta is part of Go Fest 2021, you must purchase a ticket for the event if you want to access this quest line. However, Meloetta will most likely be available to all players through a new special research quest similarly to mythical Pokémon of the past such as Victini and Celebi.

Throughout The Melody Pokémon, you will be asked to choose between two different research paths, which will include choosing between Pikachu Rock Star and Pikachu Pop Star.

Which The Melody Pokémon research route is the best in Pokémon Go?

When it comes to choosing The Melody Pokémon research routes in Pokémon Go, there is no “best” route to follow. This is because your choice is determined by the Pokémon costume you wish to receive (either its appearance or moveset) and the pose you prefer.

The first choice you need to make is in Stage 2 between Pikachu Rock Star and Pikachu Pop Star, which you can learn more about in the next section.

The easiest decision you will make during this mission will be in Stage 4 between Galarian Ponyta, selecting ‘Ponyta’, and Galarian Zigzagoon choosing ‘Zigzagoon’.

Both Pokémon will wear Meloetta-inspired hats and appear in one-star raids. This means that you can easily select the Pokémon you prefer and then catch the other through a raid if you wish.

Your next choice will be in stage 6 between Gardevoir and Flygon.

This choice goes beyond aesthetics, because each one knows a charged attack that can normally only be learned using an Elite TM. For Gardevoir, this attack is Synchronoise, a psychic-type attack, and, for Flygon, it is the ground-type move Earth Power.

Your decision will also determine whether you encounter Gardevoir or Flygon wearing a hat in the wild during Go Fest 2021. Whichever you don’t choose will still be available as an incense, but won’t be wearing a hat. It will also decide whether you encounter a Meloetta hat with Gardevoir or Flygon when you take snapshots on the second day (Sunday, July 18) of Go Fest.

Finally, although not very important, your choice of Pokémon in NAME will ultimately determine what your Pokémon raid will be called.

Explanation of the differences between Pikachu Rock Star and Pikachu Pop Stars in Pokémon Go

The most important decision you’ll make in The Melody Pokémon will be in Stage 2 about whether you prefer Pikachu Pop Star, by selecting ‘Rock Star Pikachu’, or Pikachu Rock Star, by choosing ‘Pop Star Pikachu’.

You can base your decision on appearance alone, but, as with Gardevoir and Flygon, there are some important details you should know beforehand.

First, the music-themed Pikachu will learn different charged moves; Pikachu Pop Star has the fairy-type attack Draining Kiss, while Pikachu Rock Star knows the steel-type move Meteor Mash.

Your choice of Pikachu also determines which pose you’ll receive: Pikachu Rock Star unlocks the Rock Star pose and Pikachu Pop Star will grant you the Pop Star pose.

The last detail to consider is that your Pikachu selection will have a small effect on your Go Fest 2021 experience, because, like the previous choice, it will determine which Pikachu you will encounter when taking snapshots on the first day (Saturday, July 17) of the event. .

Your choice will also change the music played during Go Fest 2021 to a rock and roll track or an electro-pop inspired song. Both music tracks were produced by Pokémon music producer Junichi Masuda.

Explanation of branching routes and research missions in Pokémon Go

Branching Research Missions are a type of special research mission in Pokémon Go, the first being the BIDOOF Research Mission. These missions offer you the choice between two paths, which then branch out into different sets of challenges and different rewards.

These options are called paths, and you must select one when you reach specific stages of the research quest. You will be asked to confirm your selection after making it, and you will not be able to change your mind afterward.

You will be asked to confirm your route choice.
