What is friendship in Pokémon Legends Arceus?
Friendship is a stat that your Pokémon have in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Your Pokémon may feel more or less close to you depending on your behavior and actions.
Some Pokémon will only evolve when their Friendship level is high enough.
The only way to determine your Pokémon’s friendship level is by speaking to Belamy in Jubilife Village, but first you will have to complete a Request for him.
How to raise your Friendship level in Pokémon Legends Arceus
There are many ways to increase your friendship level in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Keep them in your group while you run around Hisui and focus on the following activities.
This is the most reliable way to increase your Pokémon’s friendship levels. Send your Pokémon to collect berries, minerals, plants, etc. It will make them feel closer to you.
These resources are all over Hisui, so you can quickly build up the friendship you need with a Pokémon simply by running around and throwing them at every material you see.
This is another reliable way to increase your Pokémon’s friendship levels. It is especially effective on lower level Pokémon.
Because Pokémon automatically share EXP after defeating or catching a wild Pokémon, keeping a low-level Pokémon in your party, even if you don’t use it, can level it up quickly. This will also quickly increase your friendship. However, if your Pokémon is already at a high level, this may be a slower process.
You can give Exp. to your Pokémon. Candies and Rare Candies, which will give you more EXP points and help you level up. These can be obtained by defeating some wild Pokémon or through certain Requests.
You can also buy Exp. Candy and Rare Candy from Bonn, whose stall is located to the left of the Galaxy Hall. (Look for all the bright blue candies.)
However, they are expensive and have an Exp. Candy S costs 1,600 Pokébucks and the price increases up to an Exp. Candy XL for 50,000 Pokébucks.
You can also exchange 1000 Merit Points for a rare candy at Simona’s Item Exchange, further left in Bonn.
Pokémon seem to get a friendship boost from receiving these candies, as an added bonus.
Using your Pokémon in battle will increase its friendship levels. Be careful, though, because a Pokémon that faints will reduce its Friendship level.
So this method can be a little slow, but if you play casually it will help your Pokémon get closer to you over time.
How to Unlock Friendship Checker – Request 28 Measuring Your Compatibility in Pokémon Legends Arceus
The Friendship Tester is a person named Belamy who is found near the pastures east of Jubilife Village.
In order to verify your Pokémon’s friendship, you will first need to complete Request 28, “Measure Your Compatibility.” In it, Belamy wants to see a Pokémon you’ve befriended. Follow the steps above if you don’t already have a Pokémon that you’re especially close to.
When you show it to him, he will be delighted and offer to check your friendship levels in the future. He will also give you a rare candy.
You can find the different lines that Belamy can say when checking on your Pokémon, along with how this line corresponds to your Pokémon’s friendship level below:
- Belamy’s usual response to a newly caught Pokémon is “I guess [Pokémon] He’s gotten a little friendly with you, but you have a long way to go…”
- A Pokémon’s friendship levels can be lower than this, at which point it says “[Pokémon] He still seems to distrust you. Maybe new to the team?”
- A Pokémon of intermediate friendship will get the line “[Pokémon] He seems to get along well with you. But I’m sure it could get along better!”
- Pokémon will be ready to evolve when Belamy says “You and [Pokémon] They seem to be fast friends. They must be very good companions!”
There is a level above this, where Belamy says: “What an excellent pair of friends, you and [Pokémon] do. They must mean a lot to each other!” This level doesn’t seem to confer any additional benefits. But you do want to be a great friend to your Pokémon, right?
Our Pokémon Legends Arceus walkthrough will help you choose a starter Pokémon and win the Kleavor boss fight. You are also tasked with filling Hisui’s Pokédex by obtaining new evolutions such as Kleavor by evolving into Scyther, Wyrdeer by evolving into Stantler, Sneasler by evolving into Hisui Sneasel, and Overquil by evolving into Hisui Qwilfish. There are a ton of new evolution methods, including some for Eevee evolutions. Take the time to complete Requests too, like The Sea’s Legend, Wurmple’s Evolved! and find Wisp locations. Don’t forget to track all Unown locations as well.
