Below you’ll find Hisuian Decidueye’s counters and weaknesses in Pokémon Go, along with our recommendation for the best Hisuian Decidueye moveset and a look at the brilliant Hisuian Decidueye.

Cons and weaknesses of Hisuian Decidueye in Pokémon Go

Here are Hisuian Decidueye’s counters and weaknesses to help you defeat him in Pokémon Go:

Hisuiano Decidueye

  • Hisuian Decidueye Type – Grass and Fighting Type
  • Hisuian Decidueye is twice weak against flying type attacks.
  • Hisuian Decidueye is weak against Fairy, Fire, Ice, Poison, and Psychic type attacks.
  • Hisuian Decidueye is strong against Dark, Electric, Grass, Ground, Rock, and Water type attacks.
  • Hisuian Decidueye Mega counters: Mega Rayquaza is by far the best option. Otherwise, you’ll want Mega Pidgeot.
  • Non-Mega Hisuian Decidueye Counters: Leaving Shadow Pokémon aside entirely (use them if you have them), you want your stronger Flying-type attackers. These should be Yveltal, Moltres, Therian Tornadus, Staraptor and Braviary.
  • Tactics: You really want to exploit Fly’s double weakness. This will cause huge damage and make your life easier. If you have Shadow versions of the above, prioritize them over your regular forms.

What does the shiny Hisuian Decidueye look like in Pokémon Go?

With the release of Hisuian Decidueye comes the release of the shiny Hisuian Decidueye in Pokémon Go. Generally speaking, Raid Days tend to have high shiny odds, so if you’re a fan of punchy grass birbs and fancy getting your hands on the shiny, make the most of this event!

On that note, remember that you can earn up to five additional free raid passes by spinning Gym Photo Discs and the remote raid limit will increase to 20 from Saturday, February 10 at 4 pm (PST) until Sunday, February 11 at 7 pm (PST).

As you can see, the bright Hisuian Decidueye (somewhat) takes inspiration from its modern cousin, opting for the green leaves of the Grass and Ghost-type Decidueye. Whether this is due to the wonders of evolutionary genetics or Arceus doing some wobbly and well-timed nonsense is up for debate. Here at Eurogamer, we wouldn’t overlook Arceus at all, especially after the utter foolishness of trying to catch him in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. It’s still the only Pokémon we’ll never catch…

If you’re curious if OG (Original Ghost) Decidueye looks like the Hisuian form, it doesn’t; Instead, he acquires a deep blue-green color.

Hisuian Decidueye move set in Pokémon Go

If you’re looking to take Hisuian Decidueye to fight in Go Battle League, you’ll want to know his best moveset.

For Hisuian Decidueye, you want Magical Leaf (Fast), Aura Sphere (Charged), and Aerial Ace (Charged). Aerial Ace provides low energy flying type cover, Aura Sphere is just a nuke, and Magical Leaf gives you access to STAB. While Psycho Cut charges faster, it deals much less damage per turn.

This will give you victories against the likes of Whiscash, Galarian Stunfisk, Lanturn, Annihilape and Lickitung in Great League; Greninja, Swampert, Registeel, Steelix and Virizion in Ultra League; and Swampert, Magnezone, Excadrill and Kyogre in Master League.

Here is Hisuian Decidueye’s full moveset in Pokémon Go:

Possible quick moves:

  • magic leaf (grass)
  • Psycho Cut (Psychic)

Possible charged moves:

  • aerial ace (flying)
  • Aura Sphere (Fighting)
  • Energy ball (grass)

Everything we know about Hisuian Decidueye

Hisuian Decidueye debuted in the Pokémon universe in Pokémon Legends: Arceus for Nintendo Switch. It is an extinct regional variant for the final evolution of Rowlett, which appears alongside the other final evolutions of the other starter Pokémon in Legends: Arceus.

Everything in the Rowlett line is Grass-type, but its secondary type is a bit complicated… (Image via pokemon.com)

According to its official Pokédex page, “The air stored within the spines of [Hisuian] Decidueye’s feathers insulate the Pokémon from Hisui’s extreme cold. This is strong evidence that the environment can influence evolution.’

Well, let’s get into that, shall we? A rachis (pronounced ‘raykiss’) is both the part of a feather and the central stem of a frond, which seems quite appropriate for a grass-type bird. Unfortunately, this is where we stick our glasses up our nose and point out that the rachis is actually solid; The calamus (the tip to which the feather pieces are attached) is the hollow tip.

And that’s not even the most egregious thing; It’s just us splitting hairs (feathers?). It’s the final sentence that made us sigh… Of course, evolution can be influenced by the environment; This is how natural selection works. The majestic Sandslash did not grow thorns because they are pretty. Sandshrew curls into a ball to resist attacks; Sandslash grew tired of this treatment and grew huge pointy chunks and sharp claws. The same thing happens in the real world, it just takes a lot longer than leveling up your Dartrix to level 36…

Oh, and if we want to be super pedantic (which we do), Hisuian Decidueye appears in Coronet Highlands in Legends Arceus, not in Alabaster Iceland.

Good luck catching Hisuian Decidueye in Pokémon Go!
