Collei is a new character introduced as part of the big Genshin Impact 3.0 update. While she’s available in the Tighnari and Zhongli banners at an improved price, you can also get Collei for free as part of the Graven Innocence event in Genshin Impact.
This means that if you get Collei for free and then lure her while wishing on Tighnari or the Zhongli Banner, you will receive her Stella Fortuna, which can then unlock Collei’s constellations. This will further enhance your sub DPS capabilities.
Collei is a 4-star character who uses the new Dendro element in Genshin Impact, so it is advisable to add her to your team so that you can use the Dendro element to solve exploration puzzles, and combine it with other elements to help combat the new enemies of Sumeru.

How to get Collei for free in Genshin Impact
To get Collei for free in Genshin Impact during the Genshin Impact 3.0 update, you must complete the ‘The Unappreciated Carving’ tutorial quest as part of the Graven Innocence event.
The Graven Innocence event begins as soon as Update 3.0 is available on Wednesday, August 24, and ends on Tuesday, September 27, one day before Update 3.1 is released.
Inviting Collei essentially acts as removing her from a banner, so if you already have the 4-star Dendro character, you will receive her Stella Fortuna. As mentioned above, each Stella Fortuna can unlock a Constellation level, enhancing Collei’s abilities.
To participate in the Graven Innocence event and get a free Collei in Genshin Impact, you will first need to be at least Adventure Rank 20.
It is also recommended to have completed ‘The Trail of the God of Wisdom’ in Archon Quest Chapter 3: Act I ‘Through Smoke Mists and Dark Forests’ to appreciate the story, but is not required. Choose ‘Basic Mode’ from the Graven Innocence event menu to start it if you have not yet completed this Archon quest.
In addition to getting Collei for free by completing the ‘Unappreciated Carving’ tutorial quest, you’ll also unlock the ‘Meticulous Craftsmanship’, ‘Jungle Wandering’ and ‘Wood Metamorphosis’ events. These are part of the larger Graven Innocence event, and completing their stories and challenges offers rewards such as Primogems, Mora, a Crown of Insight, Mystic Enhancement Ore, and materials.
To summarize the above, here’s how to get Collei for free in Genshin Impact:
- Reach Adventure Rank 20
- Start the Graven Innocence event and complete the tutorial quest ‘The Unappreciated Carving’.
- Claim Collei from the Graven Innocence event menu

How to Start Unappreciated Carving in Genshin Impact
To start The Unappreciated Carving quest in Genshin Impact, you must travel to Port Ormos in the Sumeru region. If you haven’t visited this land yet, check out our page on how to get to Sumeru.
Port Ormos itself is located in the southern part of Sumeru, so you will have to travel a bit to get to this place. Fortunately, you can find a Waypoint Waverider on your travels that will allow you to arrive at the port in style.
Once there, you should visit Acara Crafts, which is located on the upper level of the port. A cutscene will automatically start when you reach the toy store, and doing so will begin The Uappreciated Carving quest.
How to complete the quest The Unappreciated Carving in Genshin Impact
The Unappreciated Carving quest in Genshin Impact allows you to locate Tanger, a children’s author, so he can help Acara Crafts create toys for children. However, he is looking for inspiration, so you will have to travel to Gandharva Hill to find him.
Instead of Tanger, you will find Collei and after a cutscene, her character will be automatically unlocked. However, it is still worth completing the quest both to access the Graven Innocence event and its rewards.
Next, you’ll need to find Tangier in the hills north of Gandharva Ville.
After finding it, investigate the hollow in the nearby tree and read the three notes found on the ground.
After talking to Tangier again, the quest will now only progress between 00:00 and 4:00; you can wait for time to progress naturally or skip ahead. When the time comes, return to the hollow of the tree and watch the cutscene.
When morning comes, return to the tree hole for the third and final time to witness the end of the mission. Now you can participate in the Graven Innocence event! You’ll also earn 80 Primogems, 20,000 Mora, 2 Hero’s Wit, and an Exquisite Chamber, which will only be available for the duration of the event.
I hope you have fun exploring the Sumeru region!
