How to start the Rite of Dawn in Destiny 2
Fortunately, the process to start Rite of Dawning is quite simple. First, you must log into the game for The Dawning 2021 event. You have until January 4, 2022 to complete this and other seasonal activities.
Once there, go to the Tower, specifically the Patio, to find Eva Levante. He talks to her and follows her directions in the introductory mission.
This will only take you a couple of minutes. At some point, she’ll offer you the Rite of Dawning quests, as well as The Pigeon Provides, and you’ll be set. Now, let’s see what each step entails.
How to find a Red Legion datapad containing holiday information
Rite of Dawning in Destiny 2 has a total of 10 steps, but some of them are just quick visits to certain NPCs.
Therefore, we begin with a brief chat with Zavala, who is in the Tower, near the Courtyard.
Zavala asks us to go to the EDZ and locate the Firebase Hades holiday information. For this, head to the destinations tab, select the nearest travel point and head to the firebase using your sparrow.
While the mission tracker will pinpoint the location, it didn’t become visible to us until we were very close to it. The exact location is against the western wall, slightly south of the base. If you’re looking at the map, it’s on the same “line” as the area name.
We still have a while left, so skip to the next section for all the details.
How to pick up a ceremonial cup
The next step is to gather a specific item as well as hunting schemes for a particular type of enemy. Luckily, you can complete both objectives simultaneously.
First, still in Firebase Hades, head to the Crash Lost sector of Pathfinder. This is located on the southeast side of the area, so it is very difficult to miss.
It’s a fairly simple battle: as you defeat the Cabal fighters, they will drop the ritual schemes. You’ll need 25 of these, so if you don’t manage to collect them all, just hunt some more enemies outside. The Ceremonial Cup is recovered from the chest at the end of the Lost Sector.
Getting closer to the end, let’s see what’s next.
How to complete a Rite of Dawn
Towards the next step. This one requires you to complete The Arms Dealer raid, which can be accessed from the EDZ map, which is above the Firebase Hades area. It’s a pretty simple attack, so you won’t have any problems completing it.
Now you will have to gather the ingredients to bake three specks of dark chocolate. The Dawning 2021 recipe requires 1 Cabal Oil (obtained by defeating powerful Cabal enemies), 3 Null Taste (obtained by dealing Void damage), and the usual 15 Essence of Dawning.
Note that Null Taste is a pretty rare drop: it took us a long time until we were able to see just one of them. Fortunately, the fall was more frequent (but still somewhat elusive) afterwards. We recommend switching to Void energy, as well as equipping two Void-based weapons if possible, to further increase your chances.
A good place to farm kills for Null Taste is the Bay of Drowned Wishes in Dreaming City (thanks to WoW Quests on YouTube for the suggestion) due to the large number of enemies. It’s also a pretty fast Lost Sector, making it a great method. Repeat it a few times and Null Taste will surely appear soon.
Then, go ahead and make three dark chocolate flecks (not to be confused with chocolate chip cookies…speaking from experience). Once you’re ready, head to the Tower and deliver them to the Wanderer.
The next step is to complete the Proving Grounds raid, which can be found on Nessus. Please note that if you haven’t been up to date with the Season of the Chosen questline, you will first need to complete A Challenger Rises to access the raid.
From here everything is quite simple. Once this is done, head to the tower to have another quick chat with Zavala and Eva Levante, respectively.
