What else do you need to know about the Buddy Up event in Pokémon Go?
As the name of the Buddy Up event suggests, this event in Pokémon Go aims to make you best friends with your Pokémon friend and there are multiple bonuses to help you achieve this goal.
This doubles the time your friend will stay on the map and halves the distance it takes to receive hearts and candy. It’s also easier for your friend to get excited and he’s more likely to bring you souvenirs or gifts.
All of this will help you get closer to your Pokémon friend and that special Best Friend bond.
In addition to all these friend bonuses, you will also receive double evolution XP throughout the event.
Aside from friend bonuses, the main reason to participate in the Buddy Up event in Pokémon Go is that both Volbeat and Illumise can be caught anywhere in the world.
Both Pokémon can usually only be found in specific regions; Europe, Asia and Oceania for Volbeat and America and Africa for Illumise. Thanks to the Buddy Up event, these two bug-type Pokémon managed to spread their wings, allowing everyone to add a rare regional exclusive Pokémon to their Pokédex.
If you’re really lucky, you might find a shiny Volbeat or Illumise.
Volbeat and Illumise are usually regional exclusive Pokémon.
The spawn rates of Alolan Meowth, Chansey, Eevee, Feebas, Joltik, and Woobat have also been increased. This means you have the opportunity to add some rarer Pokémon to your Pokédex and, in the case of Chansey, train a powerful gym defender.
Finally, the following Pokémon are more likely to hatch from 5km eggs during this event:
- Alolan Meowth
- glow up
Good luck with the Buddy Up event!
