Wasps have returned in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and they are as angry as ever.
Hidden among the trees that cover your island, you’ll never know which treetop is safe and which contains wasp nests.
For that reason, it is always a good idea to carry some medication with you, so that you can cure your bites.
These, however, are not the only dangerous insects lurking on your island in New Horizons.

Wasps in Animal Crossing: New Horizons explained
If you shake one of the many trees on your island in New Horizons, you might discover a secret treasure, like 100 bells or maybe even a piece of furniture. Sometimes, however, you will find yourself dislodging a wasp nest.
Once the wasp nest falls to the ground, a swamp of angry insects will emerge and begin chasing you around your island.
When a wasp nest falls from a tree, its inhabitants will start chasing you. Don’t let them catch you!
With a little courage and luck, you may be able to turn around and capture the insects in your net.
Be careful: if the wasps catch you, they will sting you. This will put a patch over one of your eyes, and if you get stung a second time, there’s a chance you’ll pass out.
Wasps can also appear in any season in New Horizons, so always be sure to be on your guard when shaking trees.
How to easily catch wasps in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Wasps are both a blessing and a curse in New Horizons. They ruin your face for a while, but sell for 2,500 bells. You need to catch one to complete the Museum, but wasps are difficult insects to catch.
If you’re having trouble catching wasps, here are a couple of rules to follow that will keep the wasps in your net and not in your face:
- Always have your net out! Wasps can move while using your tool ring, so make sure you hold your net already to surprise them.
- Stand in front of the tree when you shake it. This will cause the nest to fall directly next to you, meaning you won’t have to run towards the wasps and put yourself in further danger.
- Press A the moment the nest falls. When the nest falls, your avatar will automatically turn towards it. If you stood in front of the tree, this means it will have landed one square away from you, so all you have to do now is swing your net to catch the wasp.
We hope that following these steps will help you catch all the wasps you find!
How to get medicine when you get stung in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
If you can’t escape the wasps, you will end up stung. To fix your poor face, you will need some medicine.
Use medicines to cure your face.
Like most things in New Horizons, it is possible to craft medicine at a DIY crafting table.
To obtain the Medicine recipe, speak to one of your villagers, who will comment on your unfortunate condition and lend you a hand.
All you need is:
- 1x wasp nest
- 3x groups of weeds
However, if you prefer to purchase your medicine, visit Residential Services or, once open, Nook’s Cranny, where you can purchase it for 400 Bells.

Other dangerous errors in Animal Crossing: New Horizons explained
Wasps, however, are not the only dangerous insect that lives on your island in New Horizons, there are also tarantulas lurking in the bushes.
You want to make sure you move very slowly if you want to catch a tarantula, because if they see you, they will chase you. However, unlike wasps, if a tarantula catches you, you will pass out and wake up back in your house.
It turns out that the tarantula can’t swim in Animal Crossing.
You won’t need to take any medication for this faint, but you may find yourself quite far from where you originally were.
That said, finding them (and the mythical Tarantula Island) is a fantastic way to make money, so don’t waste your chance to catch them!
Scorpions have also been spotted on islands in New Horizons… so keep an eye out for other dangerous creatures as you explore!
